Northumbrian
Hampers was set up by R. Turnbull & Sons in October 2000. R.Turnbull
& Sons is a family business that was established in 1880 by Murdie
Turnbull and his brother John in the market town of Alnwick.
Alnwick is situated in north Northumberland and is home to the
Duke of Northumberland, who lives at Alnwick Castle, positioned
in the town centre, and is pictured on the home page of our web
site.
Following
Murdie, the business was taken on by Murdies' son, Robert Turnbull
before being passed on to his three sons, Roger, Peter and John
Turnbull. Mark Turnbull, Johns' eldest son joined the business
in 1987 and represents the fourth generation of the family business.
The firm
has always prided itself on serving the finest quality meats,
selected locally from the rich and fertile grazing pastures of
north Northumberland. They own the last remaining private abattoir
in Northumberland, which allows them to control the purchase of
their meats from farm through to plate. The idea to set up Northumbrian
Hampers came about following suggestions from visitors to the
area, for Turnbulls to extend their service for providing top
quality, flavoursome meat to the rest of the United Kingdom.
Northumbrian
Hampers offers online ordering facilities on a selection of meat
hampers and special offers. For more specific and detailed orders,
an order form can be printed off and then placed by post, phone
or fax. Orders are then dispatched in ice packed boxes on overnight
delivery.
