Consult and Design are delighted to have been awarded Technology of the Year in the 2017 Sunderland Echo Portfolio Business Awards.
An annual event in the city’s business calendar, the Portfolio Awards celebrate the city of Sunderland’s most successful businesses at the Stadium of Light.
Recipients of the award for the second time, our then small team received recognition in 2014 for making the decision to move the business to Sunderland, recruit locally and deliver international DrupalCamp events in the city.
This time round the award takes on a greater significance for us, not just because the calibre of the city’s tech sector has increased in recent years, with success stories such as Tombola and SaleCycle, but also because of how we have grown and developed as a team, as a company and as part of the city’s now thriving software community.
Since 2014 Consult and Design has put down roots in the city by supporting events such as Sunderland Digital, the city’s very own meetup for the digital community, recruiting and developing talented graduates from the city’s university and working with local partners to connect people with technology to change the way we live and work.
Education and learning has always been important to us as a company. We continue to invest in developing skills, sharing our software knowledge and Drupal skills across the region and beyond. We’re proud of the time and resources we’ve put into supporting our staff to learn and develop and it’s no coincidence that we have had zero staff turnover in the last five years.
In 2017 we’ve worked with some of the city’s key players; building web applications for the likes of Nissan and The Tall Ships Races 2018. More recently we’ve launched Peerz Academy — an innovative app that promises to revolutionise the home tutoring industry.
The last three years have been great for us in Sunderland, but what really drives home how far we’ve come has been the overwhelming response to our award from numerous colleagues, clients, partners and friends from all around the world.
We’ve been really moved by all the positive messages and congratulations we’ve received both in person and on social media, and the Consult and Design team would like to take this opportunity to thank you for working with us over the last three years and we look forward to more exciting developments in the future.
