Consult and Design onboard for The Tall Ships Races

Mediterranean Tall Ships Regatta 2013

Consult and Design are delighted to have recently launched a new website for the prestigious The Tall Ships Races 2018 in Sunderland.

Set to be one the biggest events the city has ever seen, The Tall Ships Races 2018 is expected to attract visitors from across the country and beyond when over 80 ships arrive in Wearside to take part in the event from 11 to 14 July next year.

From Sunderland the ships will then sail to Esbjerg in Denmark, before visiting Stavanger (Norway) and finishing in Harlingen (Netherlands).

Designed and developed by Consult and Design, the new website is powered by Drupal 8, giving it the scalability needed to meet the needs of more than a million expected visitors. Features include information about the event, places to stay and local attractions, as well as opportunities for businesses, volunteers and sail trainees to get involved in this landmark event.

Adam Hill, Operations Director at Consult and Design, said: “We have a great team who are all very proud to have been involved in what is a huge project — not just for the City of Sunderland but for ourselves also. It’s great to know that our work is going to be seen by thousands of people from across the world.”

Head of Events for Sunderland City Council, Victoria French said: “Our city will be hosting a fantastic four day event with something for everyone and our new website will be a fantastic way of getting the message out.

“We are also working hard to make sure there will be hundreds of opportunities for people to get involved. We hope to have as many people and businesses from the city as possible helping to deliver this world-class event. With this in mind we were delighted to be able to work with a local web design agency based in the city centre to deliver this key element in delivering a successful event.”
